IVEJ’s public health program builds upon our experience as first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic responding holistically to the health needs of our community. IVEJ believes that health is a human right and that health is not only influenced by individual human choices but also by the policies, and social factors of life such as access to healthcare services, housing, transportation, healthy food, and social support.

SOCIAL BONDS

Imperial Valley Regional Table for Healthcare

Social Bonds is a statewide initiative forming multiple regional tables across CA to develop healthcare reform through policy. This initiative is led by four core organizations: Health Access (HA), Latino Coalition for a Healthy California (LCHC), TransLatin@ Coalition (TLC), and California Pan-Ethnic Health Network (CPEHN). These organizations partnered with IVEJ to coordinate community conversations about healthcare during the Spring and Summer of 2025. Social Bonds is about coming together to reimagine and co-design a healthcare system that puts people before profits and communities before corporations. The goal is to build regional tables that not only shift the landscape of healthcare but also the power dynamics at a local level.

Internships for Emerging Health Professionals

We partner with Health Career Connection to offer a ten-week paid internship, the only one of its kind in Imperial Valley. This summer program allows students to gain invaluable exposure, mentorship, and networking in the field of health.
