Immigrant Rights

IVEJ collaborates with organizations and individuals who are advocates for immigrant rights. Our intention is to establish a relationship between state and local partners to increase our capacity to respond to immigration-related policies from federal administrations. Additionally, we are implementing strategies to raise awareness about advocacy opportunities, Know Your Rights, federal agency presence, and connecting people to legal resources.

Activate Imperial

Activate Imperial is a place-based, community-led initiative launched by the Latino Community Foundation (LCF) to ensure that local residents—particularly Latino communities who make up over 85% of the population—are at the center of economic transformation (spurred in large part by global interest in the region’s lithium reserves), civic decision-making, and wealth-building. Activate Imperial is a bold commitment to ensuring that prosperity is rooted in community priorities and builds lasting wealth, power, and dignity for those who call the region home. IVEJ is a core partner of Latino Community Foundation’s Activate Imperial.

Arts Moving Forward

Arts Programming: Arts Moving Forward, Cultural Hotspot by the Border

Arts Moving Forward is a year-long campaign that focuses on painting murals related to IVEJ’s program areas, and providing art workshops for the Imperial Valley community. One important goal is to help change the narrative of our region while providing opportunities for developing artistic skills and possibly career development for IV residents.

Inspired by Barrio Logan’s “Chicano Park,” the Cultural Hotspot by the Border program focuses on renovating the downtown area of Calexico with murals related to our rich cultural history in order to foster binational art.

Follow us on social media @ivequityjustice for announcements about our art workshops!
